Understanding the Future - How It Can Help Us Live in Today's World
Bethesda, MD April 16, 2004 -- Founded by Ed Cornish in 1966 as a forum for exploring the future impacts of government and economic policies, under his leadership the World Future Society has grown to become an international organization with 25,000 members in 80 countries around the glove that keeps a sharp eye on a multiplicity social, economic, environmental, political, technological and other trends and their ramifications worldwide.
The World Future Society National Capital Chapter will host Ed Cornish in a talk about his new book, Futuring: The Exploration of the Future, and his current views of the future. The book is an authoritative introduction to scientific thinking about the future. Hazel Henderson, author of "Building a Win-Win World," describes the book as "essential reading for futurists and concerned citizens of all countries by a pioneering futurist in this growing field." Written in a clear, readable style, it explains what we can know about the future and what we can't, techniques futurists use, and the role that forward-looking people can play in creating a better tomorrow.
Pre-publication copies of the new book signed by Ed Cornish will be available. Mr. Cornish's other books include: Exploring Your Future (1996), The 1990's and Beyond (1990), and The Study of the Future (1977).
